This screenshot proves as evidence that i have implemented the use of genre conventions in my film opening, that correspond with my film's genre, crime and drama. The drug scene consists of a variety of props that function as conventions that link to my genres, the money and fake drugs convey the crime illustrated in my movie. I also used mise-en-scene in my movie, as the antagonist the drug dealer's face is never in shot, establishing that he is a mysterious character that will lead to drama.
This screenshot is evidence, that throughout my film opening, i altered to change in speed to match the atmosphere of it's settings, the movie accelerates when the tension is building and it slows down when it eases off. Changing the speed through the editing phase, can result in better quality as it allows the audience to understand when the mood between the two characters changes as the appear either more hasty or relaxed.
For my set task in creating a film opening, I decided that i wanted to attempt to make a serious story that making it comedic for the audience, as a individual who can't take anything seriously this would become more of a challenge for me. The idea for a law & order film was my initial idea as i liked the idea of drama being included, as at the time of my first ideas being generated i had a large psychological thriller phase which included a bunch of interrogations : hence the movie's plot. I figured an interrogation to be an audience expectation as it is these scenes where usually there is a slight showdown between good and bad, right and wrong. Originally, i started with two characters being the detective Sterne Harper and the criminal Henry Silva, the names were generated from an online website from descriptions that matched their personas.
